Perry Named to House Republican Government Reform Task Force
Saying that the days of business as usual have to end, Rep. Scott Perry (R-York/Cumberland) announced today he will serve on the Government Reform Task Force, which works with the House Republican Policy Committee, chaired by Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York).
“It is of the utmost importance that the people of Pennsylvania have full faith and trust in their government, and clearly, that has been lost over a long period of time,” said Perry. “I am pleased to be selected for service on this task force, and I believe this is where the rubber has to hit the road in terms of cleaning up the problems we have had. There are good reform proposals, and we need to get them moving through the Legislature as soon as possible.”
Perry said the primary focus of the work of the task force has to be the ultimate restoration of confidence in government through a comprehensive effort in the areas of spending transparency, budget process reform, property tax reform, cleaning up current gaming laws, eliminating the practice of “pay-to-play” government contracts and election reform, to name a few.
“Ever since I returned to Harrisburg following my deployment, people have been telling me how bad state government looks in their eyes, and that has been a resounding message throughout the Commonwealth,” said Perry. “Now is the time when we must turn good words into good deeds and make our citizens proud again.”
